Benedikt hat uns informiert, dass er Making Mags nicht weiterführen wird. Grund dafür ist die Schwierigkeit, passende Gesprächspartner zu finden; allein die Anbahnung hat zuletzt immer mehr Zeit in Anspruch genommen.

Dass MM jüngst bei der großen Umfrage unter 21 Formaten abgeschlagen auf dem letzten Platz der Hörer-Gunst landete, hat sicher auch nicht geholfen...

Teil 2 des Gesprächs ist dieser Tage online gegangen und ich habe beide gehört. Witzigerweise basiert das auf einem Interview, das Christian Genzel mit den beiden bereits 2015 geführt hat. Es haben sich aber auch jetzt noch mal alle drei zusammengefunden und nicht nur eine kleine Einleitung für beide Folgen aufgenommen, sondern auch am Ende noch ein kleines Update und Ergänzungen zu liefern. Dass Boris da mitgemacht hat, ist ja schon eine kleine Sensation.
In Teil 1 geht es um die Zeit bei Happy Computer und PowerPlay, in Teil 2 um die PC Player. Die Geschichten kennt man zwar im Wesentlichen schon, aber es kommen doch immer wieder interessante neue Details und amüsante Anekdoten dazu.

Bei den Spieleveteranen ging es letztens um das 64er-Magazin, wobei der Gast erwähnte, dass er einen der wenigen goldenen 64er besitzt und nicht weiß, was dieser wert ist. Der C64 war auch schon vor einiger Zeit Thema bei SF. Boris hatte ebenfalls einen erhalten und diesen gleich seinem Bruder geschenkt. Und Toni hat erzählt, dass er seinen vor Jahren für einen niedrigen vierstelligen Betrag verkauft hat. Bei ebay ging er zuletzt für 6500€ weg.

Letzten Monat habe ich vergessen. Für fast alle ging es seitdem abwärts, lediglich SF konnte nennenswert zulegen.

Bei The Pod gibt es ab sofort für 10€-Backer einen zusätzlichen Filmpodcast. Nicht zu Spielethemen, sondern ganz allgemein. Grund ist, dass "nur" noch 20% der Backer zu dieser Stufe greifen und man einen größeren Anreiz bieten möchte. Da bin ich auch eher skeptisch, ob das was bringt.

So kann man sich irren... 300 Backer sind seitdem auf die höhere Stufe gewechselt.

Bei The Pod gabs in letzter Zeit Podcasts und Foren-Postings, die schon leicht überraschend waren... Jochen Gebauer meinte z.B. dass die oftmals behauptete strikte Trennung von Redaktion und Anzeigenabteilung bei keiner seiner Stellen (PC Games, PC Powerplay, bei der Gamestar war er sogar Chefredakteur) tatsächlich stattgefunden hat. Oder dass die zweiten Meinungskästen bei der PC Games fast alle gefaked waren. Und dann hat Jochen noch offenbart, dass er seit Jahrzehnten Alkoholiker ist (seit fünf Wochen trocken) und er z.B. sämtliche Artikel bei der Gamestar im betrunkenen Zustand verfasst hat. Da ist es natürlich auch nicht mehr verwunderlich, dass er seinen Podcast Auf ein Bier genannt hat.

The Pod hat mal wieder Zuwachs bekommen: Jochen Redinger kommt als vierte Vollzeitkraft (+ Dom in Teilzeit) von der Gamestar, für die er über 10 Jahre lang tätig war (zuletzt hauptsächlich im Hintergrund). Sieht mir schon sehr nach mehr vom gleichen aus, ich hätte mir da mal eher eine andere Perspektive gewünscht.

Ich lese die GameStar (wieder) seit sieben Jahren, aber der Name Jochen Redinger sagt mir nichts... Aber das mit Jochen Gebauer ist ja spannend. Dann wird bei AeB jetzt wohl kein Bier mehr getrunken?

Bei Pixelkino ist die aktuelle Folge erstmals nur für Unterstützer verfügbar. Schade, ist ei spannendes Thema: Terminator. Von dem Spiel zum ersten Film habe ich erst vor relativ kurzer Zeit erstmals ein Video gesehen und das war so eine Art Vorläufer von Open-World-Action in Ego-Perspektive... In den drei Folgen davor gab es wieder ein Filmtrilogie mit den entsprechenden Spielen dazu. Letztes Jahr Indiana Jones, diesmal Star Wars. Also die erste Trilogie natürlich mit den jeweils ersten Umsetzungen aus den frühen 80ern. Zu denen hat Heinrich auch schon mal ein Video bei GG gemacht, wo er die schlechten Heimcomputer-Umsetzungen der ursprünglichen Automaten spielen "musste"...

Bier wurde schon länger immer seltener getrunken, also auch von den anderen nicht mehr. Bei Andre war es sogar so, dass er schon immer quasi nur für Podcast getrunken hat und privat so gut wie nie. Im Moment steht auch eine Umbenennung im Raum.

Der Filmpodcast mit André und Christoph behandelt diesmal wieder ein aktuelles Thema, nämlich Borderlands, und ist daher auch direkt bei Leinwandliebe frei verfügbar - obwohl erst eine Woche vorher die letzte Episode kam. Nett!
Auch vom Pixelkino gibt es diese Woche eine neue Folge. Kam sogar genau an meinem Geburtstag und behandelt auch noch ein besonders cooles Thema für mich: den John-Woo-Klassiker Hard Boiled und dessen Spiel-Fortsetzung Stranglehold.
Ich hab auch neulich eine Folge von Stay Forver gehört, in der Christian Genzel zu Gast war. Es ging nämlich um Bruce Lee. Allerdings wurde Chrstian G. da nur am Anfang für 20 Minuten dazugeschaltet, um über den Mann und seine Karriere zu referieren, bevor dann Chrstian S. und Gunnar weitere 90 Minuten über das Spiel aus den 80ern geredet haben. Nicht uninteressant, zumal auch die Entstehungsgeschichte beleuchtet wurde, aber doch sehr ausführlich für ein Spiel, das ich nur dem Namen nach kannte.

Wir waren Pioniere ist ein sechsteiliger Podcast über Computerspiele in der DDR. Die Journalisten Thilo Mischke (aus Ost-Berlin) und Sven Stillich (aus Hessen) reden über eigene Erinnerungen an die 80er und führen Interviews, teils sogar mit Entwicklern damaliger Spiele. Dass ich Fan von Thilos Arbeit bin, ist ja nichts Neues und auch das hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Und es ist schnell durchgehört. Kam eigentlich schon vor einigen Jahren raus, ich bin aber erst kürzlich drauf gestoßen und ist eh recht zeitlos.

Pixelkino wird jetzt ein Bonusformat bei Stay Forever, die eigenen Patreon- und Steady-Kampagnen werden eingestellt. Liefen wohl einfach nicht gut genug. Für mich wird das aber wohl bedeuten, dass ich den Podcast nicht mehr höre - schade.
